1st International Conference on Sustainability, Innovation and Technology

Geopolitical Risk Management: The Intersection of Security, Tech and Sustainability

Salamanca, 22nd and 23rd October 2026

Introduction

The International Conference on Sustainability, Innovation, and Technology (ICOSIT) is a professional, academic, and scientific forum. The goal of this event is to foster debate and critical reflection on important topics related to business science, including practice, teaching, research, and the transfer of knowledge to the productive and public sectors, as well as to society as a whole.

This first edition holds unique significance because it coincides with the 500th Anniversary of the School of Salamanca. In the footsteps of the renowned 16th-century community of theologians and jurists who laid the foundations of international law and modern economics from a humanist perspective, the University of Salamanca will host this conference on October 22 and 23, 2026. The event will project this intellectual legacy toward the challenges of the third millennium.

The conference is structured around the central theme, Geopolitical Risk Management: The Intersection of Security, Tech, and Sustainability, and aims to focus theoretical and empirical discussions on the macro trends and systemic threats that are shaping the current international landscape. Today, companies, researchers, regulators, and other stakeholders face a multidimensional reality in which security, technology, and sustainable development are interdependent challenges rather than isolated compartments. This new scenario also necessitates a profound transformation in the skill set of professionals, forcing us to rethink current operational, ethical, and training models.

The purpose of this meeting is to conduct a joint study of these forces to understand how geopolitical volatility, technological acceleration, and sustainability imperatives are reshaping business models, transforming leadership, and generating new dynamics of risk and resilience within organizations. True to the legacy of the School of Salamanca, this analysis is based on an integrative and humanistic vision that transcends the logic of short-term profit to incorporate the creation of sustainable value and positive social impact as fundamental pillars of transformation.

In this context, the Organizing Committee of the 1st International Conference on Sustainability, Innovation, and Technology cordially invites the national and international scientific and business communities to participate in the conference by presenting their work. This will be an exceptional opportunity to share the latest advances in basic and applied research and to emphasize the importance of responsible governance in the transformation and resilience of organizations facing current global challenges.

Sincerely,

The Organizing Committee
